Cartography and Analysis of Geographic Information

The Department of Cartography and Geographic Information Analysis (DCAIG) is responsible for the teaching of Geographic Information and Cartography.

The department develops specific expertise on spatial data and, through cooperation with higher education institutions, participates in the development of geographical information sciences in France.

Department responsibilities
Beyond its contribution to teaching in all cycles of the ENSG, the DCAIG is more particularly in charge of the organization of the professional geomatics and environmental degree, and three cycles in co-operation with universities: Master 2 Carthagéo (with University Paris 1 Pantheon - Sorbonne and University Paris 7 Descartes), Master 2 DDMEG (with the University Paris 1 Panthéon - Sorbonne), Master 2 IGAST (with the University Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée), and finally the specialized Master Desigéo (with CNAM and ENPC).
DCAIG teachers are frequently called upon to teach in other schools and universities. They occasionally take part in consulting missions abroad.

Teachings
The teachings are structured around two main categories:

  • Cartography, especially on the internet (web mapping) and mobile system (smartphone, tablet);
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS): are the software used to manipulate geographic information.
