Education

The ENSG (Ecole Nationale des Sciences Géographiques), the French National School of Geographic Sciences, offers 12 courses of study in Geomatics, alone or in partnership with other grandes écoles (ivy league schools) or universities, focused on the acquisition and management of geographic information.

These courses of study from basic technical training to the specialized masters’ degrees include the brevet de technicien supérieur in Surveying, the license in Survey Engineering (bachelor’s level) and the maîtrise in Engineering (master’s level), for a current total of about 250 students, less than a third of whom are student-civil servants to be incorporated into IGN-France. The school also offers a wide selection of continuing education courses (approx. 10,000 trainee-days in 2008).

Finally, distance training is a new, recently developed activity, which has begun producing digital pedagogical content for undergraduate and graduate, as well as continuing education division courses. Visio-conferences are also sometimes used for distance lectures.
